Ron BirchallYet another Hamilton case question
I have a beautiful 950E

in a beautiful Model 7 case.
That should be a

as well, but I think it is a

.
The 950E is from the last run in 1940-41 so I don't think a Mainliner case is appropriate.
From the
Hamilton 950E vs. Mainliner thread, I believe this 950E would not be originally sold in a Model 7 and should be in a Model A case.
Do I have this right?
What time period and movements would be appropriate for the Model 7?

Robert M. SweetRon,
The "Mainliner" was still being offered in the 1939 Hamilton catalog, so it's possible your movement could have been sold in the "Mainliner" case.
The model #7 case was introduced in March of 1930, so tan earlier 992, 992E, 950, would be correct for that case.
What is the gold composition of the model #7 case?
Below is an ad from 1932.

Ron BirchallThat's my case Robert; 14k WGF. It clearly doesn't belong on my 950E. Your comment on the Mainliner case still being possible in 1940 is well taken. My 950E is very early in the last run.
Thanks for posting the Ad!

Ron BirchallThanks for those sales figures Robert.
Looks like a nice Model 7 is good to have; even if it doesn't belong on my 950E.
Now I have to find a mismatched 992 for my case as well as a late Mainliner case or Model A for the 950E.
Does anybody know the highest serial 950E Mainliner?

Ron BirchallAnswered my own question. According to Terry Hall:

Lowest in my db is Lindell's 2611552, highest 2650581
Mine is 2649218; I definitely need a Mainliner case!
Thanks for the info Robert.
