Hamilton 974 Special.
Hi folks. I bought this watch this morning at the Antique and collectors fair at Detling, Kent, England for £80 ($103). She was made 1934 / 1935 and she's brilliant. The dial is perfect with no hairlines, she takes a full smooth wind, lever set works just great, matching blued hands, movement looks good, and covers screw on and off just as they should and timekeeping is at the moment spot on. I just thought I would share this with yourselves. I wonder why this model is called "Special"?, and also do people think the loop is original to the case?.

Stephen, The 974 was single roller adjusted to temp with brass escapement wheel,The 974 SPECIAL was double roller, steel escapement wheel, with three adjustments. It took the place of the 978 for electric, trolley, and inter-urban use that didn't need to pass the stricter time requirements.

Thank you everyone for your replies. She's been running for 48 hours and is spot on timekeeping in all three positions.....I love 'em!!
