Sean PlummerWonderful, Scarce and Affordable-Low production Hampdens
As I mentioned in other posts, I am intrigued by the "Higher Grade" but lesser sought-after pocket watches. Fortunately, I picked up this 16 size Hampden 21 jewel "John C. Dueber". Really Didn't think much of this grade until I serviced it and discovered the actual production is blocked at about 1500 units.
Striking features include: "Neon Like" straight line Damaskeening, Dark Red rubies in Raised gold settings, Gilt & Domed screws, fine styled gold lettering, LARGE GOLD setting on balance cock, Gold polished center wheel, polished rack regulator.
Unfortunatley, many of the Hampdens, just are not finished to this level.
But from time to time, they really can be Awesome.... If anyone has some insight as to why this particular "John C. Dueber" was so well finished, Please post your thoughts.
