Another Illinois Sangamo Question
I was in Green Bay last week and saw a Sangamo getty 23 jewel in a shop and wonder if I should have made an offer. The serial # was 2,5xx,xxx. It seems to me without Illinois reference material that this would have been one of the last gettys before the specials came out. The dial was not very good and it was in a Non-period correct case, (long way to say incorrect). They were asking over $400 so it would have taken some bickering. Is this one rare?

Boy Mike you make it hard to pin a watch down with a xxx,xxx bunch of numbers Eek

But I would possibly think you were looking at a 1913 Sangamo of 23Jewels that they made 2,615 of. . I would call it scarce but not rare and I feel they had a full retail price on the watch from what you say and without seeing same, I would say "no" not rare.

regards,
bb

Buster, I have a good memory, but, it's short! I noted the sn at being 2.5 million range and yes, a full retail price. I did not write the full number down. They were pretty proud of their watches there but had a few nice examples and some not so nice. I guess my question was whether I passed a good opportunity to make an offer. Since I was there visiting my brother who is ill I was not really shopping for watches, but you know how that can go.
