Elgin pocket watch identification
Hello, I ran across an Elgin pocket watch that I have never seen before. That not really that hard for me. I am humbly request the assistance of anyone that might be familiar with this pocket watch. I have attached a picture and unfortunately I do not have a picture of the movement and I feel the serial number given is not correct. If anyone could share your knowledge on this pocket watch I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance I am sorry to bother you all with this. OH the serial number that was provide (which I feel is incorrect) is 1307471. I believe it is a size 16.

Hi Richard, without seeing the movement on that one, it will be hard to tell much about it.I've never seen an Elgin anything like that, I think it looks awful "Swiss", which may be why the serial number seems way off.I tried looking up the number on the Elgin site, and it came up a 7-jewel 18S, I don't think it's that. The second hand is off a Waltham RR grade, that's for sure.I hope one of the other guys on here who know more about Elgins will have the answer.Pretty unusual watch!...Ted.

Based on the serial number provided, Low Million series number, this would be a very early Elgin watch and this watch is not representative of the pocket watches produced by Elgin in those days. The mixture of hands and complications is not consistent with early Elgin's. This is badged as an Elgin but I agree that it is most likely a Swiss or other movement branded with the Elgin name.

Kindest regards,

Serge

Richard, a movement picture could be worth 10,000 words (or dollars!)
