I'm new to IHC185 and have been a lurker for about 6 weeks, this is my first post. I didn't know about IHC185 until after I made my first American made watch acquisitions.

I wanted to do some more online research on the Hamilton Model 22 Deck Watch and Illinois Bunn Special that I picked up and cherish. I found so much information and this is such a great forum here, that I signed up for a lifetime membership in appreciation of the group and organizers.

Both watches are with a master watchmaker, Mr. John Crabtree, right now being restored. The Hamilton Model 22 is in the non-gimbaled, Deck Watch, form. S/N AF/45-D-1114, movement # BF23959. The watch is in great shape and running very well. The watch came with its original, matching S/N, cardboard box which I really liked.

The Illinois is from 1931 with a 161A movement (#5481534) and a 14K WGF Model 206 case (#7102021). This watch had some unexpected problems: cross-threaded case screws, a missing cap jewel for the dial side of the escape lever, and a beat up solid gold roller.

John was able to find a replace cap jewel and clean up the roller. Luckily the roller was not deformed, so the geometry is still correct and time keeping is not affected.

I have a temporary case for it right now, but will see if the Model 206 case can be repaired. I found a company in Florida that specializes in watch case repair (including rethreading) and have read good things about them. If the case can't be repaired, I guess I will be like other fans of these beauties and be on the look out for appropriate cases.

Sorry about the long post, but I just wanted to share my story and thank everybody at IHC185. I've learned a tremendous amount so far and I'm happy to be a part of this group.
