David AbbeVERY CLEAN Miracle Lincoln!
About 4 years ago, I restored a s/n 3186124 Model 9, 16s 21J Illinois A. Lincoln and was delighted to find that it was a "1 of 1,000" in quality and accuracy! A good friend bought it and has carried it ever since . . . until he left it in his fob pocket that went through the wash! Total damage: Broken crystal, missing minute hand! STILL RUNNING!!! He "dried it" with a hair dryer on "cold" and you can see that there is absolutely no harm done excepting the afore-mentioned parts. When the replacement minute hand arrives, I will take it to a friend who lets me use a bench to disassemble, clean and inspect it further then replace that missing jewel screw, the hand and crystal and re-lube it.
When you think of it though, it is a "miracle" this survived a full wash and spin cycle in a washing machine and is still running. Beats the heck out of Timex!!!!!

Peter KaszubskiMust have been the old type washer as I have seen one pocket watch from new front loader, watch was clean but good for parts only, pallet fork gone so much force that the dial came off the watch with hour wheel.
You have one lucky Lincoln for sure.

William D. WhiteVery lucky. A washing machine full of water knows nothing of build quality; this is a perfect way to ruin any fine watch. There will no doubt be staining on the steel parts.

Kevin MoodieThe real problem is using a clothes washer rather than a dish washer. I don't think the petroleum distillates harm the washer that much!
