My newest Waltham
Just wanted to show off my latest edition, inexpensive Waltham. Also wanted to know what case this is. It,s a swingout, with a horseshoe mark ?

It could be R.R. Fogel & Co. at 177 Broadway New York. However the examples I see show names with it. It also shows Sterling Silver, and Nickel Silver, and also mentions a Reversible Case.

Thanks Sheila,
I do not see any case screw marks elsewhere on the case is there a possiblity this case came with thw watch, or is the dating all wrong? The watch is 1895 - 1896.
Someday I'll know this stuff hopefully.

Hi Bill.
I don't think there is any reason to think that the case didn't come with your watch. It certainly looks great, fits fine, and the fact that there are no other case screw marks, makes it is good bet that it's original, at least to me.

I did forget to mention that there is a note that says, Before 1920, so the timing looks right too.

I'll try to get a picture of the marks and put them here, so you can take a look too.

I sure miss my scanner!

I'll be back.

PS By the way, your watch is really nice, and I love that dial!

Great watch. Love that dial. it looks simmilar to the Cronometro victoria (0s) that i have. it has the rising(or setting) sun on the movement. Did waltham make an 18s in a C V?

Thanks for all the info Sheila, and it all looks right to me also.
Darren I would like to see a photo of your cv. In the In the complete guide to watches it does not appear that the cv is made in anything other than the 0s. Mine being the Sol makes sense that the sun is on the dial.
Would love to see the pics for yours. I see yours is listed as a 2 star in the guide.
Thanks for all the compliments.

Hey Cool that great info(2 stars). I dont have much info in my antique (1987) shugharts. i bought this mvmnt because it was different. I heard later that this was marketed to the south american market. I think that waltham also made a 16s in the C V. ill post pics asap

It appears that they did make a 16s in the CV, upon looking further in the guide.

Could anyone tell me if I am reading the data right, and there was only 2000 of this "Sol" made ?
Thanks,
Bill

I believe the SOL was made for the Mexico market.

Brian,
Thanks for the info, kinda rare to have one still working I guess.
Darren,
After reading the guide again, I see they made a 14s , 16s, and an 18s in your CV.
