What is a Up / Down Dial?
Can you tell me about these please?

I know that you guys have talked about these, but I know nothing about them. What kind of Watch do they go on, and naturally with the 2 other dials they serve a purpose, but I would sure love to know what.

Up-Down

Jim,
Wow, so the top? indicator shows how long it's been since it was last wound?
So can you tell me how to read it? would the numbers indicate hours?
Thank you for the wonderful information.

They usually read in hours since the last wind, but sometimes in hours to go until the next wind.

This is my favorite wind indicator watch for reasons that may be obvious. You can click on the thumbnail to make it larger.

Nice watch Tom!! It would be so neat to have one with your own name on the dial. And not just any watch, one with an up/down indicator! Great find!

Any "Seymour" watchmakers?

Tom,

At first I thought you meant it was your favorite because the subsidiarly dials were side by side, but after enlarging it the reason became ...clearer. NICE.

I wish it were my watch, but it belongs to my "cousin" Bruce who is Fred McIntyre's grandson. Frown

There was one in the recent sale of the Time Museum collection at Sotheby's, but at $51K, I could not afford it. Eek

OK, so I get this dial and it's 53mm across?

Yep, 53mm That is FIFTY THREE !!

Is this normal?

I purchased it knowing it had hairlines and when I get it, IT'S REALLY NICE!
Much nicer than I expected to receive.

It's clean and looks almost new. Could it be a new copy or something?

What kind of watch would this go to?

I think it will probably fit the Elgin Father Time deck watch like this one.
