$125 antique mall find.
How bad did i get taken? the dial says "Shreve & Co." The movement says "Shreve & Co. San Francisco" 21 jewels adjusted. serial number 20564
also a cross (like the red cross sign only not red)with the number 31609 over it.
it has no wolf teeth and it has gold jewel settings oh it also says "swiss" it is damaskeened like a 992E and its 16 size + - a skosh.

I know little about Swiss watches. But that looks liks a high quality, finely finished movement to me.

Let's see the rest of it!

Eric,
Going from memory..It appears to me to be a Longines...but the serial number looks to low.. And if so, at 21 jewels, running, with decent dial, it was a rather good buy..It does appear to be recased.. Shreve is a bigger San Francisco jeweler.. Maybe someone else can add more or correct my assumptions..

Definitely a high quality beauty, hopefully running well and with good original hands and dial. Many collectors like to have some of these. Styled much like a Patek, but I do not know the identity.

It has been recased, but the movement appears to fit standard American cases. A number of high grade Swiss movements from the early 1900's did. So, you could recase it if you please, and have a very nice carrying watch.

I don't know much about Swiss watches either but it looks similar to an International Watch Co. movement.

This looks like some watches I have seen by Meylan.

Jerry,
Looks like we came to the same conclusion. Meylan's seem somewhat uncommon. Is that your experience?

They do not seem to appear in the U.S. as often as Vacheron & Constantin or Wittnauer group watches (Longines, Agassiz or Touchon). Perhaps they were not as aggressive as the others at marketing to the American jewelers.
