Larry LamphierI know it is the wrong dial and hands. I think the case is right.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Buster BeckHey Larry !!
You've got 4 different pieces, hands/dial/mvmt/case and none of them go together

Hands, I can't tell for sure, but definitely the wrong second hand.
Dial looks to be a Swiss replacement.
Movement is a early one and USGOVT marked that belongs in the base metal case.
Case 16 didn't come out to early '50's.
A real hodgepodge for sure

Bet it still runs with the best of them though

Is this a quiz

Did I win the watch Larry

I could always use another watch, mine keep disappearing

bb

Jerry KingYeah Boy....I agree with Buster on everything, Larry....
Movement 1942-43,
Case 1951,
The Hour hand may be okay,
The dial is a replacement for sure....
But the movement sure has some history to it, just in time to help win the war 'over yonder'....
Hope you didn't pay an arm and a leg for it....

Jerry

Edward L. Parsons, Jr.I think the dial is a counterfeit Dial 024, which was used on the the military 992B's. Here's how it compares to the real deal:
Fake Dial 024 from auction on the left -- Genuine Dial 024 on the right.December 20, 2010, 17:28
Larry LamphierHey Buster, I have another 4C coming for you that I thought I would put into this case!!

I just never saw that on the back of the gold filled cases.

That Baton minute hand does not go with that hour hand does it?
No Jerry, I don't think I will get hurt on this one, and at the same time I think I can get everything back to where it should be.
Well I don't have the base metal case Buster is talking about. YET!! I know ther is one on the way from Texas this very minute!!!

Larry

Larry LamphierThanks ED,
How about an even SWAP!?

I had a ??? Swiss 23 Jewel Hamilton with that dial only it had another mark just under the Hamilton. Just cannot remember the model.
Someone was collecting them on here and I sent it to him.

Larry

Krister OlssonLarry
Apparently it´s not only the stainless steel cases that has those "lathe marks" on them. This brand new case 17 has them. To be honest, I didn´t even know that case 15 had them, since all cases I´ve seen has been worn.
