Sangamo Special Dials?
What is a correct dial for a Sangamo Special? My particular watch dates to 1912 as far as I can tell, and has a single sunk dial. The dial is marked Illinois,and is porcelain, with very bold black arabic numerals. It seems that most Illinois dials are of the fancier double sunk variety. I would think that the high end line of watches would have the fanciest dials.

Hi Donald,

There are a number of different Sangamo Special dials over the many years of production. Check over the topics in our Illinois Watch Company Research Forum for pictures of some of them. The Sangamo Cases topic features some ads with dials. One of the best ways to evaluate this properly begins with your movement number. Consider also posting an image your dial and if possible your movement so we can talk it over in detail. Smile

Since you mentioned single-sunk be sure to look at the one below this message. At one point the single-sunk dials permitted a slightly slimmer factory installed case.
