Samie L. SmithWow Jim what nice watches,,That 947 is a beauty..

February 25, 2005, 20:42
Jim HanieSeldom seen 991 in Gold Case. I think the production numbers and actual numbers are far apart on the 991. Only actual examples will tell the story.
It is marked but weak or my lighting is off.

Ed UeberallHere is one of my finds fron the Orlando Regional. This one will hold a special meaning for me, as it came from Mike Laux's collection.
I would love to get additional information about any Hamilton movememts that shared this damaskeen pattern. The serial number is 527,733. It's a Grade 940, marked "Adjusted 5 Positions".

___________Jim - Love this Orlando "finds" thread, and thanks for showing each of these. Might be attracting some more Hamilton collectors to FL next year!

Ed - Great looking 940 and I much appreciated your showing this one to me at the show. I don't have many serials on 940's with this damaskeen, but here are the few others I do have in my notes ...
524913 (just marked "Adjusted", no "5 Positions")
554418
591713 (no "940" marking on barrel bridge, also factory markings oriented differently)
693412 (private-label marked)
And I have just about this same damaskeen noted as being on ...
547337 (grade 926)
624021 (grade 936)
... so looks like one could assemble a nice little collection among the movement variations found with this damaskeen pattern.

Jim HanieTerry,
What a nice watch. One never knows what is out there. It make a 974 into a rare collectable watch. For your research I have one with that pattern 783,713.
Congratulations!
ED,
That is a great sunburst pattern. When I looked at that watch it was $500 higher than you bargained for it!
Some others for your data base.
680,124 a 924 Mine
591,713 a 940 on Ebay

Ed UeberallIn addition to those serial numbers posted by Fred and Jim, we have the three additional numbers in our database, so the complete list so far:
512515 Adjustment marking not noted
515631 Marked "Adjusted"
524913 Marked "Adjusted"
527733 Marked "Adjusted 5 Positions"
527737 Marked "Adjusted 5 Positions"
554418 Marked "Adjusted" not marked "940"
591713 Not marked "940"
693412 Marked "Motor Barrel" private label for
Fred StraubSo it appears we have identified a number varients;
With or without "940"
Marked "Adjusted" or "Adjusted 5 Positions"
Marked "Hamilton" or private label
Marked "Moror Barrel"
And, this is with only 8 examples.

BTW, I have 502301 listed as a Grade 926 with a "Hamilton Special" dial, rather than a 940.
