Unusual Illinois Dial?
Hi,

Just picked up new tray of watches one of which is a Illinois S16 watch with this dial, can anyone tell me anything about it, style, age range, type of watch fitted, its on a Sangamo currently, value/rarity

Very nice dial Chris, thanks for sharing it.

I would expect to see dials like that on a late-teens Sangamo, a 17 or 19-Jewel Bunn although it could have also come on an A. Lincoln or Bunn Special into the early 1920s time frame. Later, the 60-Hour Bunn Special 21 or 23-Jewel Open-Face movements fronted a much bolder looking dial.

That's my take but others may have a different opinion.

Here is the same dial, but in gothic, on a 16 size Sangamo Special, circa 1915.

That's a rare and beautiful watch, thanks for sharing it!

Below, an earlier version of Ethan's dial on a 1913 Bunn Special.

Chris,
here's an Illinois Santa Fe Special dial which has you see is pretty similar in style
to your watch, Ethan's and Lindell's.

Chris,
I will add my two cents. I've not seen a dial like yours that is pictured. I added one that I have on a 19j Sangamo Special. It doesn't look like any of the others other than it has a 'Gothic' look to it that you associate with the Sangamo and Sangamo Special watches

Here is the movement for the dial. It is a true bridge. But that doesn't answer your question on how rare your dial is. The one on this movement looks like the dial on the Bunn, so there are two that appear to be the same.

Is this an unusual Illinois dial? I've allways thought so.
