Bill MandersIllinois ?
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAP...geName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Can anyone tell me what this is ?
If it is Illinois it is listed as an America, likely a P/L, but the Plymouth Pa. is throwing me off.
Thanks,
Bill

It would also assume it is a private label Illinois, I did a little searching for Fred Ravel in Plymouth, Pa. with no luck. With the auction ending soon I didn't have a lot of time to search.
I would have thought it would also have a dial with his name but I am mot certain.
According to the serial number it is an Illinois 18s 7 jewel, model 1, key, hunter American grade made in July-October 1880.

David AbbeDana, You "stole" it! Good Job! The collectible value of these early KW Gilt 7J "America" Grade Illinois are special (to me) and even more "special as a Private Label. Generally speaking the Private name could be added to the movement plates for practically nothing, but the dial cost more to do as they were Hand signed and scaled, and it took a few dials to make one right (My Guess)

Dana FullerDavid-
I guess it's better to be lucky than smart. I was only buying it to practice on (disassembly/assembly). I guess you never know.
