Rick FarmerHampden 16 size with Hunter case
I recently saw a Hampden 16 size S#1488293, 15J grade 109D (in split flag), model 2.
My question is - what does the split flag reference mean?
The case is a Deuber Hunter, engine turned with design and in very good condition and detail. I believe the asking price is primarily for the case?
Sorry, did not have a camera with me.
Thank you

Tim PooveyRick,
I can't help much, but I have read that the split flag on the movement is basically just a trademark logo that Hampden used for their 13-15 jewel movements.
As you stated above the case is made by Dueber, but are not "standard" size 16s.
Best regards,
Tim

Rick FarmerHi Tim, and thank you. As soon as I read your response I thought to myself I should have picked up up on that from the info listed. Went completely over my head. Diplomacy appreciated.

David AbbeThe 109D (in split flag) denoted an unadjusted 15J movement with a bit more than the usual treatment. The model 3 (OF) version that passed through my collection could be "RR Adjusted", by a RR watch Maker, but was not so treated at the factory. Your Model 2 Hunter is certainly worthy of keeping as a nice early 16s Hampden Gentleman's Watch.
You can learn much more if you purchase a copy of the Hernick/Arnold "Hampden watch Co. Book available from our club bookstore

Rick FarmerHello David, now I have two books to purchase from IHC, perhaps it's time to boost the US economy.
The dial you posted is the same as the watch I am looking at which has a small faint hairline b/w 11 & 12, otherwise very clean as is the movement.
The gold filled and very good condition hunter case is what attracted my attention..anything "shiny".
