Mike HodgePhotos of the 976
After a long and difficult learning experience, I finally have the 976 together and it runs, sets, and appears to keep good time. Thanks to all who advised me on this.
I think the reason I am so excited is due to the learning that I aquired as well as the completion of the 97x series. I now have pretty nice examples of the 970, 971, 972, 973, 974, 975, 976, 977, 978 & I don't believe there was a 979.

Mike HodgeThere are a few minor dings but overall it turned out to be a pretty decent case.

Mike HodgeThe movement is pretty ordinary, but hard to get.

Mike HodgeThis SN is not among the large pillar plate numbers in the price guide. I learned to ignore them.

Mike HodgeYes Dave, but alas, I'll never fill out the 94X series. I have 940s, 941s,942, 943, 944, 946, but no 947

I seriously doubt I'll ever get that one or the 948 for that matter.. Back to the 970 seies, I really have not seen many 976s for sale, the 977 is not too hard to find, but the 970 and 971 were just in the right place at the right time. I really enjoyed finding this 976, and putting it right, and admit it was a bit lucky to find the case on a blind (with peek holes) stab. Now I'll sell the 972 movement and try to dig out of the money pit!

Tony DukesMike,
Just a note. My 976-sn 66555 has the same dial as your watch and the movement looks the same except for the higher number.

Larry LamphierNice work Mike!!
What are you looking for in the 970 series?

Mike HodgeLarry, unless they made a 979, I believe I have the numbers covered. Probably not all the subtile variations but some of them. If I get into pendant vs lever set, or special markings, then I still have some ground to cover. As I mentioned above I do have 970 through 978 with multiple 972, 973, 974, 975, 977, and 978.
I'm not with my collection at this time but will be back home on Thursday.

Larry LamphierOk Mike,
I have a really nice clean 974 Special movement that needs the hour and minute wheels, and the lever spring is missing, that needs a home.

Larry
