Barry Hanstein8K Pocket Watch Cases
Hello, everyone:
The lowest karat gold case I was aware of is 9K, but I recently acquired three unmarked 16s/18s hunter cases I could tell were solid gold. I had them tested (by someone else) but they all were found to be 8K. Wouldn't that be a strange coincidence that all were 8K, or do you suppose the person who tested them did it incorrectly???
Thank you for your response,
Barry

Jerry KingHey Barry, could be the reason that your cases were not marked with their gold content is because that it is illegal to label anything less than 10k in jewelery and of course our watches are considered jewelery....
So that probably means the recent test is correct....

Jerry

Edward KitnerSome where I read that lower karat cases were common in Britain.
