David AbbeHampden 18s KWKS Lakeside "Gambler's Watch?
I got this over a year ago and hesitated to work on it. It was on eBay as "old watch, dirty, not running"

David AbbeFor 90 bucks, it became MY "old watch dirty, etc., including the Human Hair Fob, Gold Gun Charm, nice swivel Key and Adjustable Key. Today, it is no longer "Dirty and not Running"! Those old Coin Silver Cases are a dream to polish up! The swivel key is on another Hampden that came with none, and the neat adjustable stays with this one.

David AbbeThe movement is MINT! All the time I was doing this watch, thoughts came to mind of someone on a riverboat losing this to a Gambler who then adorned it a little more and kept it until the main broke. IT WAS NEVER OPENED UNTIL TODAY! New main and it's a-flying. Nice name. . Lakeside

Mike PensonSo Dave, do you ever plan to visit The Peoples' Republic of New Jersey? You know, arrive on vacation, leave on probation. I've got a dozen or so "projects" you could amuse yourself with. You should get a medal for rescuing that old boy from Ebay and another one for the work that ensued.

David AbbeMike, Are there parts of New Jersey where things still grow?

Mortimer SchwartzHello David. You are truly a master! What model is this one, and how many jewels?

Edward KitnerDavid,
Great restoration on an old workhorse.
What do you use to restore an old silver case like that?

David AbbeMortimer, This is a s/n 93937, "Lakeside" with 11 Jewels, not too many of those were KWKS! Ed, for this type stuff I use Brasso with a soft cotton rag, then I clean out the whole thing with a toothbrush in mild detergent solution, final polish it and oil the hinge pins a little. Anything to keep the "Old boy happy", and it sure seems to be happy now!

David AbbeBy the way, Mike Penson, I was jesting about New Jersey, I have been there many times, and presently don't know when I will get back.
