Christopher DarwinElgin Grade 77 Anecdotes?
Thanks to all who responded to my Grade 240 thread. It's interesting to learn some of the history surrounding this great watch.
Another of my favorites is the Elgin Grade 77, Model 5. These late 19th century, 18 size, full plate watches were big, simple, rugged, and reliable. Often housed in heavy Silverode cases, they were known to many as biscuit watches because of their size.
I'm sure this was a watch that put Elgin solidly on the road to success. I'd be interested to know any historical background on this great old watch.
