OK here is another question is this movement a private label someone just added the name or is it a model name that is just not listed in the book.

Rob,

That is a beautiful movement either way! I think it looks like a Private Label addition since the script used is different from any I have ever seen on a Waltham watch. I would imagine the jeweler added it to the movement upon the customers request, it is very well done and lovely though, and I think it adds to the watch. Then again I'm no expert and that is just what my eyes see. Nice watch Rob.

Robert, last year I sold a beautiful 5th pinion Illinois...Glenside...was on the dial, not listed...yet other such names were. I never saw it listed anywhere.

So you can never go by any book or listed record sheets to be certain. From the engraving on your movement,
I would think it was factory done at jeweler's request. Looks like a ladies' watch.

Robert, Being that it is a ladies pendant watch, Penelope could have been the owner or receiver of it as a gift. The jeweler could have easily added her name to the movement as an extra personalized touch.

Remember--Jewelers would do anything for a customer as long as they could sell a watch and the customer was willing to pay for it.

According to (my past VP of Mfg of a business I started in MA) James P. who worked at W.W.Co and holds a great inventory of factory parts;

"This lovely engraving was only FACTORY applied after the watch was finished if the recipient was a visiting dignitary. Otherwise it must have been done by the very skilled hand of the Jeweler who 'cased' the watch."
