Negus Marine Chronometer
I purchased a Negus at the L.A. regional. Since it did not have a box, I am having Gary Selleck make one for me. I have read everything Mercer and Whitney have written about Negus, and I am still in the dark. Does anyone have some suggestions as to information on the Negus company.

Congratulations Jerry, you have a very nice chronometer, and Gary will do a great job. Do you know how old it is? Eventually I'd like to expand my collection of Bliss chronometers to include Negus & other American made chronometers.

I'll try to help, although the best information I have is in Whitney's "The Ship's Chronometer." What in particular are you looking for?

Norman: I don't know the age of the chronometer. It is #1957 and the number is on the dial, frame and bowl. I don't know who made the movement. Mercer states that Negus used Mercer, Kullberg and Johannsen movements. When I get the chronometer from Gary, I will take some photos. This is my sixth marine chronometer.
