Stephan GaalWhich Bunn
For the last little while I have been looking for a 17 jewel Bunn. Can't afford the top end ones so I thought I would go to the other end. These 2 were both bought as non runners. Between them I have 1 good dial with gothic numbers, and 1 reasonable gold filled case. Problem is I got both movements going so which one gets the good bits and which becomes the spare parts. The one on the right is 1904 and has full adjustment for everything. The other is 1902 and just says adjusted but it is 2 tone. The price book doesn't help me much so what do the experts think?

Joel W. SarichHi Stephen:
Just my 2 - cents - worth, I would choose the one on the right, with full adjustments. I love the damascening on this one!
Cheers!
Joel

Ronny ManisSounds to me like you need another dial and case!

Peter S. BalkanI agree that the one on the right just looks spectacular.
From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) but "Adjusted" usually means 3 positions, temperature and isochromism. A 5 position adjusted watch should be a tad better than a 3 position but the giant leap would be from non-adjusted to adjusted.

Stephan GaalThey both have 17 Ruby Jewels. The one on the right has ADJUSTED TEPMERATURE 6 Positions ISOCHRONISM and next to the balance cock DOUBLE ROLLER. The other just has ADJUSTED. Both are BUNN so I assume they are both railway grade The book just says BUNN 17-24 jewel. Perhaps the one on the left being 2 tone and a bit more dressy should get the gold case and the more railway type should have a nice nickle type swing out railway case. I have one of those looking for a job. Would a regular Illinois dial be acceptable or do I need to find another of those gothic looking ones?

Foster MillerThe early 18s Bunns all had the Gothic Dials (I think). For what it is worth- the one on the right- with the sun-burst pattern really looks good. That would be the one for me!!

Stephan GaalThanks all for your comments. Following your advice the one on the right got the good case and dial. Not sure about the hands but untill I know better I will keep the ones that came with the dial. Feel free to comment if something doesn't look right.

Stephan GaalThought I should add a picture of how the other one came out. Case is nickle and plane on the back.
