Marnie CummingsGold/gold filled hallmark
I have a pocket watch that has a hallmark on it. I have tried to look it up and can't find information on it. The watch is an Elgin-Gail Bordon-size 10-11jewel-G-22 - M01 - KW/KS C.1882 #949,456 CASE - BWC Co. #334,690 my information ticket on the watch says 18Kt but I want to make sure and don't know if it is gold or gold filled. Below is a photo of the hallmark. Any insight?

Steven FordMarnie,
Found this on another site:
"B.W.C.Co. - Brooklyn Watch Case Co.:
Niebling states 1865 founding in his book History of the American Watch Case, Whitmore Publishing, Philadelphia, PA, 1971."
Don't know the gold content, but even their gold filled cases were many times 14k over 9k .
Hope this helps.
Steve

Buster BeckThat "eagle" has seen better days !! The right wing [left side] is worn off on the outside.
I believe these cases for the most part assay out to be 8K.
Here is an old thread from our IHC185 files that may be of help to you;

Marnie CummingsIt sure doesn't look like an eagle to me. I thought it was a squirrel!

Richard M. JonesI don't know Marnie but I suspect it is a turkey trying to masquerade as an Eagle to avoid Thanksgiving. As to the gold content I think most likely 8 kt.

Kevin HoffmanI am with you Marnie ! I stared at it for a minute thinking that they must like squirrels {tree rats}
I found on the web that the eagle was for 8 kt
