Fabrizio, the pictures show that you are missing parts for the regulator. Make a list of all the parts you need so we can try to get them together for you.

So far I am still looking for your parts, but according to what I can find all 18s took a 20x3x21 1/5 dennision measured main spring or in mm it would have been .290X .021 x 21 1/2 inches with a T shaped end.

It looks like an Illinois mainspring to fit models 1-6 18s would also work, they had the same end & were also 20X3X21 1/2.

Do you still have the mainspring that was in the watch to measure to make sure it is that size?

Tom,
You are correct. Acording to my book, all Columbus 18s watches took a mainspring, 20x3x211/2. Illinois #47302 is the same size.

Then the Illinois one should work, now we just need to find one, it looks like it would be part number 47302 the Columbus number is 56.

I went through all my mainsprings & I don't have either. I will check out some of the places I know that might have one.

When I get home this afternoon I will get out all the Columbus parts I have & see what I can find.

Here is a site that has the Illinois spring

http://ptpwp.com/039338-038.aspx

they list it as 47302 & their number 039338-038, they show it as 20x3x21 1/2

I have some 47302 white steel main springs that I purchased from my #1 spring vendor; Eckcells, Stoneham, Mass[800) 690 3303], and a movement that I was going to restore, but Fab's double signed North Star would take precedence.

Fabrizio if you want the Spring and parts movement (less case) they are worth about US$65.00 to me (+shipping) and that leaves the other regulator spring to be found.

If you want the parts movement with case, Dial and hands raise that to US$115.00. The dial is not perfect but it would clean up.

Fabrizio, I have one other question about shipping things to Italy. In the past, I only have had trouble to personal adresses, when I sent something to a business it always got there.
If you have a business friend who would accept our sending to their address, would that be a safer way for us to send you parts?

Hello!! Thank you very much for help me Tom Brown David Abbe!! Wink
I found today in Italy Illinois 18s mainspring i try use it, and regulator i will build it.
About shipping you asked:
Shipping Usa to Italy is strange, sometime payed 25$ and recived after 1 month or more, now payed only 5$ and recived in 5 days!!
I saw on the envelope of the shipping that:
First class mail international United states postal services, wow super fast and low cost!
I Bought Columbus on 3-25-09 arrived in Italy at 3 -30- 09.. see ebay auction of that item: 300301299456
Never lost shipped item Usa-Italy, all bought all arrived, about 100 pocket watch, only one arrived with broken glass, no problem Wink

Thank you again friends! Smile

So far I have dug out one parts Columbus, it is also missing the regulator but I was wondering if the pallet fork could be used in yours.

I do not know much about Columbus watches, I thought perhaps you had the old pallet fork & you could tell if this one may work, you notice it is missing one jewel but other than being dirty the rest of it is fine.

I will see what else I can find, I know I have a couple of these here.

Fabrizo

I have not mailed your package yet, recently member Bruce Cunha gave away Cerium Oxide that is used to polish glass crystals.

He gave me some, I sent some to John Woosley in England & if you want I will put some in the package to you.

Here is the link about it & some links on that page about how to do it.
