Leonard Abbott1879 21 JEWEL ELGIN CONVERTIBLE
I THOUGHT I WOULD POST A PICTURE OF THIS WATCH SINCE THE ELGIN ARCHIVES SAY ONLY 500 ARE KNOWN TO EXSIST. THIS HAS A FEMALE WINDING ARBOR IN THE MOVEMENT AND A MALE STEM ON THE CASE. IT DOES NEED A NEW BOW AND CROWN, THE CROWN IS PEELING AND BOW IS BRASSING. IF ANYONE HAS ONE THAT WILL FIT I AM WILL TO BUY.

Leonard AbbottTHANKS FOR THE INFO ON POSTING SAMIE. AS FOR THE WATCH GOES IT WAS A BUY IT NOW ON EBAY LAST WEEK. IT HAS BEEN IN ONE FAMILY SINCE NEW AS FAR AS I KNOW, FROM THE SELLER WHO IS 81 YEARS OLD. I JUST GOT IT TONIGHT AND IT NEEDED CLEANING AND THE PLASTIC CRYSTAL REPLACED. IT STARTED RUNNING WITH 7 TURNS WHILE BEING HELD VERY STILL. I DIDNT SEE HARDLEY ANY MISS- USE MARKS ANY WHERE INSIDE.

All the images and comments on them are now together in this topic. Just as Samie politely pointed out above, we can place an image in every post, no need to begin separate topics. That is explained in more detail here...

Back to the beautiful watch, this is indeed as Tom Brown mentioned, one of the truly great finds, I concur with the "be-yoo-ti-ful" as Mike put it. I have wanted one of these 21-Jewel examples all the time I have been seriously collecting but on the rare occasions when they are offered the prices have been a bit too much for me. Finding this extremely rare movement in what is apparently the original solid-gold case is without question quite a find!
Congratulations Leonard, and thanks for sharing it with all of us!

Mary Ann ScottHa! Ha! That's good! Rent-a-watch! Leonard's Loaners!
If it wasn't for the fact that I think it best to keep shipping of watches to a minimum, either could be the next entrepreneurial success!
Leonard - if you happen to drive to Texas, stop by and show it off. Then you can go on to Tom in New Mexico.
