Jerry KingWhile I am no expert by any means and others will be able to give you more detailed info and evaluation....
Things look pretty good so far....the dial has a couple of hairlines and flea bites, but other than that it looks good....
The case looks good but again, I am no expert on the Ball watch....
By running a simple
Ball Search....it turned up over 700 matches....maybe something will match up with yours....
Regards,
Jerry

Larry BuchanHello David:
Nice-looking Ball Canadian 24-hour dial, most dials on Balls for the American market are marked with the Ball "Official RR Standard" trademark except for the commercial standard watches that were not railway approved they have the signature like this dial. These dials were made for the Canadian Ball Watch Co. Ltd. of Winnipeg on most examples I have seen. This one is interesting because it is in a Ball marked case for the American market. Here are a couple of examples from my collection, this style of dial numberals is more like the CPR dials.

Larry BuchanHello Dave:
Here is some information on your watch that I found in my records The serial number is hard to read on your photos but it looks like B238094 . This would be from a run of 5100 Waltham Ball watches numbered from B234901 to B240000 and is a 16 size, 19 jewel, open face, nickel plates, lever set, Adjusted 5 Positions, Official Rail Road Standard from a mixed run that included 17 jewel watches it was manufactured in 1909. Just something I noticed was the run previous to this B234851 to B234900 was a run of 50 Waltham, 19 jewel, Wind Indicators.

Richard M. JonesDavid I particularly admire the Canadian dial and that is a nice watch from what I see. If you check ebay you find the Waltham Balls do not bring the price of other makers, which is not to say they are not fine watches, so keep that in mind.
