Hamilton 4992B or 992B?

Hamilton serial number 4C61136. Would that be a Hamilton 4992b missing the sweep second gear or would it be a Hamilton 992B? One of the last produced with the 4992B's plates?

4C61136 puts the manufacture date at 1942 for a 4992B a photo would help

I don't have the watch I was just confused by the 4C at the beginning of the serial number. I was thinking a 4C movement was the last year (1970) of production where Hamilton took 4992B's and finished the 992B line with them but the rest of the serial number (61136) did not what I have read about the 1970 4C serial numbers.

I agree with Scott entirely, that early number was not involved in the post-production "4C" project, here is a bit more...

All the Hamilton 4992B examples should have a 4C-Prefix on the movement number and unless it has been modified (often done as a watchmaking school project) it should have a black "GCT" 24-Hour Dial.

The post-production 992B watches finished in 1970 using left-over 4992B pillar-plates and other parts are the ONLY correct 992B examples with a 4C-Prefix, all of the regular production 992B movements will properly carry a C-Prefix on the movement number.

Reading this over closely should help clear up any confusion...

If you are not already confused enough be sure to read that entire topic, top to bottom and learn there were a few "S-Prefix" 992B examples also post-production assembled using left-over 950B pillar plates.

Only the very last ones assembled from leftover parts in the vault during 1970 as is explained in considerable detail at the link provided in my previous post in this topic. No serious collection of 992B watches is complete without a post-production "4C" prefix watch. For that reason these rare watches command a premium price, that is if the seller knows what they have!

At that same lnked topic we explain them, show a database of known examples and even get into the ultra-rare "S" prefix movements.

If you like the 992B that topic should be very helpful and open your eyes to something very different.
