Hello All,
I would like some input from the crew here. A friend is going through a batch of stuff from a friends estate. She is going to take the jewelry and scrap to a "gold buyer". There is a Fahys 20 yr 16s hunter case with fairly minimal ware, and a crystal-less bezel. The real lid is sprung, and will not close. There is a 7j NY Standard movement, not running. What would a scrapper pay her, and what might be fair offer to her. I know I'll be taking a risk with the back cover.
thanks for your input.
Kevin

David AbbeOften Gold scrap buyers low-ball single pieces unless they are in a bulk lot such as her pile of jewelry. As part of a lot, a "scrapper" might pay up to $1.00/gram for the case after all the steel parts are removed. So it's scrap value is maybe $20.00.
The movement is parts only at maybe $3.00 if 16s or 18s. The case, if restorable maybe $20.00 max.

Kevin MoodieThank you, David. I was thinking that was the probable ball park. I don't need the movement, but the case is only brassed at the pendant. I was thinking of offering $25-30, if I can get the rear cover to close decently.
