Roger StephensHAMILTON 942: un-marked
Just added this to my collection. S/N 186872=1902
Looks like it might be an original marriage. I do not see other case screw marks. It is un-marked as to 942. A nice watch and really runs accurately.

Robert Lee MillironThat's a rarity and a keeper, marked OR unmarked in my book.

John ScottThe earlier "unmarked" 942s are fine movements and some of the best that Hamilton ever made.

Mike HodgeRoger, if I recall correctly, movements were often unmarked until around 1905. A quick look at the Gelson List shows very few 942s made after that date. I have always believed that the main (possibly only) difference between the 940 and the 942 was the double roller on the 942. Later when Hamilton put the DR on the 940, it pretty much made them VERY similar. Since the 940 had been the better seller, the 942 was essentially phased out. I believe the 942 is very hard to find with or without marking, but really scarce as a marked movement. I have an unmarked one as well and consider myself lucky to have aquired it.
