Help requested, contradiction ser# on wheel plate vs Grade on wheel plate
I have been looking at a Hampden 16 size Hunter case, when I use the pocket watch data base lookup for ser# 1690327 (last digit is pretty well obscured) the description comes up as a General Stark Grade and no adjustments. BUT on the wheel plate WM McKinley is in script and adjusted is marked on the wheel plate.
Is this an error or has some hanky panky been carried out? It's driving me crazy.

Any input appreciated

Regards
Rick

I checked another source and it comes up with General Stark as well.

Have you checked the serial number on the back of the barrel bridge?

Hi Lorne, no I have not checked that as yet. the Hunter case is a Dueber and in excellent condition and that is what attracted me to the watch to begin with.

Peter, something is amiss and was thinking the same thing as you suggested but what is perplexing is the ser# is on the barrel plate as is the "Adjusted" marking and the Wm McKinley script. I don't know what to think

Thanks guys

Take the dial off and look for a serial number there. Or the balance cock if you are comfortable with that, as yet I am not.

Also, the data bases could just be wrong, not the first time.

Hi Lorne, when I go back to the shop later this week I'll ask the fellow if he can or will tale the barrel plate off to see what's there. Apart from that I will just pass on it and leave it in the shop.
Comparing movements by picture the closest to this one is a 17 jewel, Grade, Dueber Watch Co. hunter model.

I think it is best left in the shop.

Thanks
Rick
