Beware of pivot size, I bought some recently and I received them with pivot 12 while I needed 11. I could polish them down, but I would prefere to have the factory original, I'm sure they are much better finished than I could ever do.

I probably have 50-60 left of the 861 staff for the 16s Elgin. What I have found is if the staff is NOT from an Elgin kit or a staff that is separated by pivot size, the staffs seem to have a rather large pivot size (14).

The only logic could be a staff made to fit all sized balance jewels via the repair person polishing down to fit. There are the Pros (custom fit) and Cons (more time), but at least the staff could be made to fit. Thus, eliminating tubes full of staffs containing pivots that are too small to be used.

Also, it seems some of the old school repair folks like to "custom" fit their staffs. Don't know if it is old habit or what...

I like to polish the replacement staffs before assembling the Balance wheel, etc., so fitment to the jewels with a followup burnish and polish is only slightly longer time and much more satisfying.
