Edward Kitneranother watch cabinet
After I built my first watch cabinet some here suggested some improvements. I have been working on this one between other projects. Yesterday I applied the first coat of oil.
It is made from tiger Maple with a waterbase stain and will have an oil finish. The inside back will have black felt to back the hanging watches. I incorperated two small drawers and the fancy top and base.
It will hold about forty watches when completed, with room in the drawers for more watches or chains, etc.

Eric UnseltGorgeous figuring in that maple, Ed - and increasingly hard to find. Were you saving that board for just such a project?

Phillip SanchezBeautiful wood and the craftsmanship ain't bad either. Really nice, Ed.

Edward KitnerThanks for the kind comments. The lumber I lucked upon locally. If I would have been a week earlier I could have had my pick of the boards. Most was made into to T&G flooring for a local guy. I'll bet he is still beaming from the purchase!

Edward L. Parsons, Jr.Outstanding wood, seems a waste to make flooring out of it. That level of quality in tiger maple is usually only seen in gun stocks and fine cabinetry.

Eric UnseltAgreed - I've never had access to maple of that grade.

Edward KitnerThe place is a small local saw mill that has his own kiln.
Not only was the lumber nice the guy sold it for $2.50 a BF T&G and all.

Mike SandellNice job on that cabinet.

Edward KitnerAn update on the cabinet.
The door, back and most of the 42 hooks installed.
I will update for those interested when I hang it.

Buster BeckWouldn't that be an awesome auction item right here folks

Maybe a half/half "Owner vs. IHC Fund Raiser" piece of work

I would start it at say $250.

bb

Edward KitnerBuster, that would be a good idea. But this one already has a place picked out for it.
