Ethan LipsigHelping "Hand" Needed
I have a model 9 16-size Sangamo Special (pictured below) that has plum-colored minute and hour hands, and a blued steel second hand. My focus is not on railroad watches. Hence, I do not know what the correct hands would be for this watch, or whether any of its present hands are correct. However, I would think that all the hands should be the same color. If you have spare correct hands, or at least an appropriate plum-colored second hand, that I could purchase, or any other useful information (e.g., what would be correct hands or where I might buy a set), I would be grateful.

David AbbeEthan, That second hand is fitted very well to the watch, and could very well have been replaced during the "in service" life of the watch. That said, I suggest that you check with our Brian Cavenaugh, and if Brian cannot help, check with Dave Bush at;

Buster BeckYour Hour/Minute hands are correct! You need a Seconds hand in PLUM color for a 16sz. Illinois and you will be factory equipped

I think David said the same thing

but somehow I got lost in his translation

Ethan LipsigDave Bush does not sell parts and Brian Cavenaugh has not responded yet. Any other suggestions?

David AbbeI will check my donor watches and you also might check with Steve Middlesworth to see if he has any plum second hands. The good news is that your Montgomery dial seconds chapter is unusually small for an Illinois and so a longer but slightly damaged plum seconds hand might be trimmed to make usable for this.

Kenneth MorfordHello Dave,
any suggestions on where to purchase 18s Elgin second hands? Wondering where to buy some stock.
Also, what's the word on where to buy crystals?
