I need recommendations for my first Hamilton 960 PLEASE
Well I received my mystery watch today and it is indeed a Hamilton 960 as I suspected. Not seeing the movement until now I was not sure. The seller listed the case number instead of the movement number but after contacting him and getting the new number my hopes went from a Hamilton 970 to a Hamilton 960.

The watch is keeping real good time. Not bad for a $181.45 cent Hamilton 960. I took several photos of the condition. Everything looks original. The dial looks perfect but the case is silverode and has nicks and gouges in it and the crystal is all scratched up.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do to this watch to make it an eye stopper? Any and all recommendations are appreciated.

Thank you,
Harry

Congrats Harry, you STOLE that 960 at $181, when it books for $440-$820-$1150.

To make an eye stopper out of it, you need to put it in a nicely decorated high-pendant gold-filled case, a Hamilton factory case if possible.

It should also have a period-correct double-sunk enamel dial and correct hands.

Looks like the dial and hands that are on it meet these criteria, so all you need is a case.

Ed

Well I like Ed's suggestion about a nice high-pendant gold-filled case but it seems O only have three or four and I don't think they are good enough for my 990. So I either need to find one or I do have a couple of silverode high-pendant cases with a very nicely engraved train on the back.

Does anyone have an opinion on the silverode train case?

Nice watch, great price Smile

What's the serial number- 360067 ??

If you are thinking of auctioning this one on site, I will start it off at $500. Just write me up with the $500 starting bid and we will go from there.

I have a case ready to slide it into.

Just food for thought, and maybe a recommendation Wink

bb
