Joe StraubShades of gold
My wife is watching the jewelry show on QVC. The bracelets and necklaces come in gold, white gold, black gold, green gold, chocolate gold & rose gold.
I know pocket watch cases came in gold, white gold & green gold.
Were they available in any other shades of gold?

Paul D. TrombleyA lot of wrist watches were also marketed in rose gold... never heard of chocolate gold.
There are some great web search discussions on the metallurgy-amalgams involved in creating the common colors.
Even though I have not seen pocket watches marketed as "rose gold"... a few of my cases are every bit as much rose gold as the rose gold wrist watches I have.

Joe StraubPaul - did a search on chocolate gold, also called brown gold, and it appears to be legit.

Joe StraubPaul - No sucker to it, it's real.
Here is a Wikipedia on colored gold alloys:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colored_goldLook under black gold for the process of making brown (or chocolate) gold.

Donald TrumbleHamilton-Wadsworth case Number 2 came in Yellow, White, Green and Rose Gold-Filled.
During a visit to Lindell's home one afternoon he placed three cases like in traffic light order, rose, yellow and green and then he pulled out a 14K solid gold white one. What a sight!
There are of course also gold cases with various color inlaid decorations depicting baskets of colored flowers and even birds. As Joe said above it all comes from the addition of different alloys.
