Apologies if this has been addressed before but I thought you'd all like to know of my recent discovery.

This morning I was having trouble removing the back and front covers of a watch (fingers slipping) and suddenly an idea hit me. My wife buys these little round rubberized pads at the dollar store and they work fantastic for removing the covers on a watch.

Here's what they look like and all I'm going to do is cut one down to about a two and a half inch circle. They work great.

Thanks Bud....yes this has been covered in other strings but doesn't matter at all....It is always good to see our members finding ways to do things that work for them...I've never seen the pads that your wife uses but they will work....

My wife had some of that material left over from lining the shelves in the kitchen, I am going to have to try this, it is good at griping things.

Jim, it sure does grip things and it saves a few bucks overy the "real" thingy they sell for removing watch covers. I saw one on eBay for something like $7.95 and this way you get three for a dollar and all you have to do is cut them out with scissors. You can get 3 of them at 2 1/2" diameter each.

The 'wrench' is secured with jewelers shellac. Warm it to put and warm to take off. I bought it in the original package - dated 1908

The non-slip material works great but I had a stubborn watch back that still not succumb to the non-slip material.

I used super glue and glued a large nut (5/8) to the cover. When it dried I used a regular open wrench and turned the cover off. Then I used acetone and removed the super glue.
