I recently purchased a watch that I have always wanted (from our own Andy Schwartz). Now don't laugh, I have always wanted a triple signed Santa Fe Special. What ever was going on in my life kept me buying one (price, condition, etc). I can now cross that off my bucket list..

Just curious if other members have watches they have always wanted.. Or I guess you old call it a bucket list watch..

23 jewel riverside maximus indicator for me , a number of years ago they were in the 3-4 thousand dollar range, but now at what they sell for i guess i will just have too wish on.

I have two that are on my bucket list and they are the Elgin Grade 72 &/or 91 Convertible....I have at least one of all the other Convertibles and will one day, the lord willing, find one or both of the last two....

i seen one of each grade sell on ebay last year. the grade 91 was a mixed bunch of parts ,but a nice movement and it sold for $2600.00 the grade 72 was nice, it was in a gold filled case,listed for a 3 day auction for a buy-it now $4750.00 and it sold in 2 days.

Bruce, I had a personal watch collection of 500 watches over the years. Sold many, bought many more, etc... About 5 years ago I was on vacation. I was in the right place and the right mood hit me and the boss (wife) said yes after years of only dreaming. I bought my one and only dream watch, a Breitling Super Avenger. I came home, sold all of my other watches except 10 that were in the family or gifts. I stopped buying watches for myself after that. Maybe 1-2 in the last 5 years. I figure my Breitling made me save 10,000. I wear it 90% of the time, my others one day or two a month.

I think you beat me out in that auction on the Santa Fe Special! I've attempted to buy watches from that guy for a long time, get sniped at the last second every time! I don't bother trying to buy there anymore, too disappointing.
I'm a new member here, but I too have 2 watches I dream of.
#1 Illinois Sangamo Special 23j close as possible to the 1920-1923 range
#2 Illinois Bunn Special 21j also in the same age range.
They are 2 of many that my Dad carried at work, 41 yrs on the B&M Railroad. They were destroyed in house fire after his death. Only have my memory of what they were to try and replace them.
I kinda replaced the Hamilton 992's and the Elgin BW Raymond's he had. My memory isn't that great anymore, so I think they're close!!

My bucket list watch, well one of them, would be a Ball Hampden. The other would be to find a Hampden indicator which supposedly Hampden considered making but never put into production.

Any idea what Mark Twain carried? That would help define my interest. There has to be more than RR's out there.
