Home Watch Co. - Any special story?
I noticed a statement that the Home Watch Co., with a model produced in 1874, had directed marketing of this piece at returning Civil War veterans. Is this so, or is there any other info on the Home Watch Company worth knowing. The production date of 1874 is some time after end of the war.

Mortimor,

I believe that the Home name was utilized to market a lower grade watch that they did not want the name Waltham associated with.

To add to Bill's post, they were also made for export.

Thanks, Bill and Brian. Is there any substance to the claim that the watch was made for marketing to returning Civil War soldiers?

Unlikely, but then I doubt they would have refused any marketing opportunity. I never heard or read anything about this being specificaly targeted for veterans.
