Jon HartGrade 400 Elgin 18sz 17j
Hello,
Serial # 17067460
Grade: 400
Movement Serial Number:17067460
Estimated Production Year: 1913
Run Quantity: 1000
Size: 18s
Jewels: 17j
Movement Configuration: Openface
Movement Finish: Nickel
Model: 8
Movement Setting: Lever
Plate: 3/4 Plate

Trying to find some additional information on this specific grade
Looks like Elgin made 2 runs - 1913 and 1933 - 1k per run
Trying to get a value, but of course, if it is not marked with Veritas, Father Time or BW Raymond, so the fat book comes up light (sigh)
Anyone see one of these 400 Grade or have additional info - Claude/David?
Thanks in advance

David AbbeAccording to Ehrhardt's "Yellow" Elgin book there were 1,000 Grade 400 made . . . TOTAL. Ehrhardt also speculates these could be RR capable.
Without pictures little more can be said except it is a rare Model 8 which as an 18 size 3/4 plate lever set I would expect should be RR Grade and worth at least $3-400.00 in good condition considering its scarcity and type.

Claude GriffithThis is one of the grades that I do not have but for some reason if you look at the 16 and 18 size Elgin grades in the low 400's, such as the 400, 401, 402 .... 412, 412 most of these grades are a single run of 1000 and even the grade 412 was made in a qty of 3600 so not quite 4 typical runs. I have the 402 and 412 not not the 400, 401 or 411.
Other than the 412, these grades are hard to come by.
