Hi all,
I was wondering if these are the correct hands and dial for this watch. Ser# 26966835. It's also in a keystone case, which I could not see any other case screw marks, so that might be original, that is if they came in Keystone cases ??

Hi Bill,

The hour and minute hands look to be correct, I believe the seconds hand is a replacement, the original being very distictive and easily recognizable. Waltham did use Keystone cases, usually but not always with "Waltham" markings inside the case-back. Also it is conceivable that some of these may have still been available as movement only around 1929 when your movement was finished. An image of that case signature area as well as a look at the bow and pendant area would help narrow this.

By the way, according to page 106 of the Waltham Ledgers published by Ehrhardt in 1976 yours is from a run 26886001-26887000 which should likely be Lever-Set movements. That is also in complete harmony with Railroad Standards at the time and provides added value in today's market. Assuming all that to be correct, the answer to yours being Pendant Set could lie in the fact the setting lever in those watches was a defective design that broke easily, replacement parts were depleted many years ago so many of these watches were converted to Pendant-Set as I suspect your has been. If so it can now be returned to original specifications.

Lindell,
Thanks as always for the informative responses.
Unfortunately I have as yet not taken a watch apart to do any work on these, eyes and steadiness being a factor, I will look at the levers tho, and see if I can find someone locally to put it in.
The case back is funny also, as it appears to have something x'd out, see the attached photo.

I think the Victory cases said "10K" on the top line and "Rolled Gold Plate" on the bottom line where someone has xxxxxxxx'd all that out. Its really insane out there

It was not bought as gold so it's not a major thing, I was just wondering what had been x'd off, you're right tho, why would have someone done that ??? crazy.
