My latest find. This was a pawn shop watch I knew looked apart from the rest even though it didn't have any special inscriptions. Dave looked it up and encouraged me to go for it.

She came in today and is in incredibly clean and solid running condition. Great screw case, nice crystal, minor spider hair lines at 7 o'clock. The dial appears to be correct. Even the case screws are gilded. I get to pick out a new set of hands.

S/N 1611397 case Fahys Mantauk 20yr #7301399

Buster, please check out my post on page 10 of "who carry's what watch?"

I love the engraved open face watches and they appear to be about impossible to find.

As I float around in the auction web sites, I only see a couple a week and even then, they are pressed rather than cut and tend to have gold tone back grounds or be in really poor condition.

I would snap up anything with an Indiana Jones look to it... not interested in the banker or little ol' lady look.

When I bought my first watch on ebay, it turned out Dave was the seller. He invited me by his shop to pick it up rather than ship it. He showed me a couple dials he had in his spares and was sharing stories with me about how they were hand tooled by artisans in a division of the shop.

I enjoyed the story, enjoy the look. I'm really surprised they are not more common.

My wife carry's this one is S/N 3987296 in it's Fahys 14k wgf case. The data base says it's a 16s, but it is actually a 12s.
