Cecil McGeeSaved another goner
I got this 18 size 17 jewel B W Raymond off Ebay. It had very blurry pictures, and it was kinda a pig in a poke deal. Well,it was a goner. Been in a fire. But I was kinda bored today and I decided to have a go at reviving it. These are the parts I replaced. Dial, hands, escape wheel, palate fork, mainspring, balance wheel, balance staff, hairspring, roller table and jewel, regulator,Regulator indicator and adjuster, and the case.

Cecil McGeeIt got hot enough to melt the solder from the double sunk dial, and solder the front bezel to the case. I had to cut the bezel off with my Dremel tool.

Cecil McGeeThe movement was black, and I cleaned it up as best I could. May go back someday and try again. I have a very nice gold filled hunting case just waiting for this one. It isn't in this case, just sitting on top and running. Gets the case tomorrow, too tired to finish it tonight. 111 years old and it lives again. Feels good to have saved another one.

Bruce CunhaCecil
The abilities and patience of this group never ceases to amaze. You are to be commended for even taking it apart, but to get it running again. Hope you call it Phoenix.

David AbbeGreat Job Cecil, you should make a display with the "ashes" included to show that with some good IHC185 perserverance there is "life after death".

Eric UnseltInteresting replacement dial with the staggered numerals in the numbers 10 and 11.

Cecil McGeeThanks guys. I thought it was done, but alas seems I have a gear reduction problem. Overnight, the minute hand kept perfect time, but the hour hand is lagging behind. The hour wheel was missing from the movement when it arrived, and I found one that seemed to fit,but I guess the tooth count must be wrong. The Raymond is different from the other movements that I have,so I guess the hunt is on.
Eric,I picked that dial up a while back, and thought it looked kinda unique. It is an aftermarket replacement, but I like the looks of it. I don't know if it is correct for this watch,or maybe it needs Roman Numerals.
