Tom BrownQuestion about Hamilton 900 Orginial Price
I just bought a Hamilton 12s Model 900 in it's orginal box & I have a question about the cost of this watch when new.
The case is marked Permanent & from searching prior posts about these cases it is apparently gold filled.
Now I am not trying to make this into something it is not but I thought perhaps someone could explain the cost of this watch when new. The watch was made around 1923 & had a price of $90.00. From other ads I have seen for around that same time that price would have been for a 14k case. Was there something else about this model that had the price so high at the time?
Anyway I would like to hear any comments about this.

An ad from 1923 shows the price for a 900 in a Permanent case go fo $92.00 to $95.00. In 14kt $125 to $140.

Tom BrownHi Phillip
Thanks, I will probably put this up for auction here after I get it serviced unless I can figure out who it was presented to, it has an engraving from Manchester NH on the inner dust cover.

John J. Flahive IIITom,
I just bought a 23J Hamilton 920 with the original box and papers and a 14K case. The original price was $147.00.

Talk about the Roaring 20s!
I too would be highly interested in the Grade 900 if you were to auction it here.

Tom BrownThanks John
I had no idea prices were that high then, I had recently purhased the Waltham 14K that was made in 1909 in 14K for $75.00, I didn't know the prices about doubled in 10 years or so.
