I bought this watch inspite of the case
Below is one of my first expensive purchases I made about 10 years ago--12 size Illinois Grade 299 Hunter in a 14kt rose gold case. The 299 Hunter is relatively scarce with 900 blocked serial numbers.

When I purchased the watch I was primarily interested in obtaining the movement.

The pictures of the case were very blurry and the seller wanted $600 which was a lot of money at that time.

He put it up twice on Ebay and could not sell it. I wrote him but he would not budge on the price claiming the watch it was well worth it. I agreed to his price with great reluctance. As you can see I did OK.

I think this is one of the nicest American cases I own.

Wow Bob,

This example once again drives home the point that few if any of us will take a chance on what looks like a coin at the bottom of a swimming pool. Sometimes it works out... Cool ...this one worked out REALLY well.

Gorgeous watch my friend, thanks for sharing it.
