Civil War "eagle marked" on Waltham case
Hello, I hope everyone has been well! Would someone be so kind to tell me what the small stamped eagle on the inside cover of a civil war era watch indicates or means? (1861-1864) Thanks in advance! best regards Joe

I believe that is the silver marked used in the USA in the middle of the 1800's. Unfortunately this country never had the mandated standards like the UK did, so as to what percentage of silver .800, .900, .925 was never set. This is just what I recall when researching a similar case that I have, I could be wrong & if so I don't mind be corrected.

Thanks for the input Tom, I thought the same thing but I was not able to find that specific hallmark for "silver". I appreciate the feedback. regards, Joe
