HAMILTON 940"MADE IN U.S.A."
Just added to my collection s/n 1447682 which I believe to be in the last run. Marked Made IN U.S.A. According to my research only 2,198 units were marked like this making this a scarce variant.
Dial has no h/l's etc. Winds/sets and runs really well. I believe this to be an original marriage.

Nice 940 Roger! My 16s 19J 996 is marked "made in U.S.A.", I read somewhere that Hamilton's marked that way were for export.I think 18 sizes with that marking are pretty scarce, there seems to be more 16 sizes around. You did good! Regards, Ted.

Thanks Ted, I,too, have read that they were for export. But I don't know if there is any truth to it. This one being in a Canadian case may point to that. Who knows. The movement and case seem to be an original marriage, but again who knows.

I was of the understanding that it was post WWI, and that they did it from the early 20's to around 1924/25. Everyone I have had in that time frame had it on the movement.
