2nd 12s Illinois.
This is the second Illinois 12s I picked up this week. I am very happy to have found this one! 1916,23 Jewel, Grade 510, Adjusted to 6 Pos. The Hallmark P.L. was the only movements produced out of the 423 with the burnished jewels. Anyone have any idea the exact number of Hallmark 510's?

The Pocket Watch Database says that only 413 of grade 510 were made. The Illinois Watch guide says 533 were made.

Either way, a real low production, and a nice example to pick up.

Jim,
You may be right. Here are the production numbers I have for the grade 510-
40 Ariston
100 Illini
240 Hallmark (I just answered my own question Smile)
43 Unknown
It is thought that the Illinois Watch Guide included two runs that were misidentified, 2652201 - 2652300 (100) Illinois grade 410's and 2905491 - 2905500 (10) Hallmark 509's. These serial numbers and grades can be verified at the same site that says there are 413 total 510 production.
That would leave 423 total 510 production.
Unfortunely I don't have all the research material I would like to have (who does Smile)? so I could be wrong. I'm sure someone here with alot more knowledge can assist with these numbers.
Thanks for the comments! Besides the members here I have no one to show off my watches to. I don't know anyone else who collects pocket watches, and the wife just nods and says "That's nice dear". lol

Can any one else help in verifying the numbers I posted? I really am curious.

Thanks

Michael, you indicate 100 of the movements used in the Illini? Where did you get that number. I have a 23 jewel Illini and a 23 jewel 510 Hallmark watch but they are different sizes. The Illini is a standard 12 size where the Hallmark is a 12-14 size watch with the larger pillar plate.

Let me echo Michael Loggins. The 23j Illini, although very similar to Grade 510, is a slightly different size and is considered its own unique grade. I think that Michael Weiford accidentally wrote "Illini" when he meant "Illinois," causing this confusion.

Michael and Ethan,

You are both right. I did mean Illinois and not the Illini. The Illini is a size 13. Thanks for pointing out my error and for the posts.

Best Regards,

Mike
