I recently won an auction right here on IHC185 from Barry Hanstein and received my "Governor" today. It is very nice and Barry's description of the watch was superb. https://ihc185.infopop.cc/eve/f...26021842/m/623100061

I can't find this model in the Cooksey Shugart book so maybe someone can give me some additional info on this gorgeous watch.

Thanks,
Roger

That serial number is in a run of 12s model 1 21j stem set open face grade 274 from 1925, adjusted temperature, 3 positions, isochronism, jeweled in settings, patent regulator. Came in 19 & 21 jewel, double roller. According to Meggers, grade 274 appears with many private labels markings but most frequently with the Burlington Watch C. When the book was published he noted a 17 jewel model had been reported but not seen.

There were several grade 274 runs of Santa Fe Watch Co., Some Burlington watch Co, one Washington Watch Co., and one "Precise" run of 2,000, but nothing is recorded for any quantity of 21J Governor named movements.

Meggers only mention (in the "gold book") is a 17 Jewel, 12s "Governor". So this one you have could be a very rare part of a single mixed run of 1,000 pieces.

Thanks Tom & Dave...I'm happy to add this one to my collection. If anyone else has heard of "The Governor" model, please let me know.

Steve,

Same movement, just in a different run (1923).
