A couple of pick-ups from the Jones-Horan auction on the first day.

A Vanguard that cleaned up very nicely and found a temporary home in a nickel display case:

A pendant-set variant with diamond end stones and marked 21 Ruby Jewels:

And a double-signed Illinois Getty:

A 17-jewel Imperial Special with a full set of coppertone hardware:

Racked into an excellent Dueber case:

I thought I had a K&D staking set for $30, but then Phil started cheering the other guy on, so I finally got it for $110.

The box was a mess, but all the original hardware was there. I stripped it, broke it apart, floated the panels through the drum sander, re-assembled it, and sprayed it with a medium-cherry dye stain with a Polycrylic binder.

Notice the different woods? Fir of some kind above the hasp, and poplar toward the bottom.

Everything had rust scale on it, but it looked like a nearly complete set. I chucked every stake and stump into the lathe and polished them clean.

I need flat stake #109. Anybody got one?

Impressive! Prettiest Stake set I've seen so far. Looks too nice to use.
